Serra - The New Rooftop Cafe in Salt Lake's IT hub

What do we generally expect from a decent cafe? First, excellent ambience, a place for having cosy conversation and click Instagrammable pics.

Then some good music and polite service. Last comes food and beverages.

Well, this new kid on the block, backed by the corporate might of the DC Paul group, ticks all the boxes and more!

We checked it out for Christmas lunch.

Was really impressed by the beautiful decor, and lush, greenery surrounding the glass exteriors of the cafe. With the sunlight streaming in, it looked very cheerful. Wooden chairs and tables add to the charm. Only catch was the tables were a little too high for having food comfortably.

The food was exceptional, with a wide range of Italian, continental, Chinese, Thai and Indian dishes on offer.

We were offered a fruit punch as complimentary drink.

From their Italian menu section, we ordered penne in Alfredo sauce with chicken. From the continental menu, chose chicken ceasar salad and chicken stroganoff. And sampled burnt garlic pepper chicken fried rice from the Chinese Thai cuisine.

Ceaser salad with chicken was absolutely delightful. Crunchy lettuce, cherry tomatoes, olives, with croutons and chicken strips in a delightful vinaigrette of mustard and mayonnaise, it was a meal in itself.

Chicken stroganoff came with a side of garlic toast in a bed of herbed rice and white creamy sauce. The pepper garlic noodles with chicken and veggies were flavourful⁰ and excellent in taste.

The chicken Alfredo penne was total comfort food.
A very satisfying meal indeed on Christmas afternoon!

Service needs to be a little more prompt and professional though. Also the placement of sauces and seasonings on tables needs to be there.

Otherwise,  no complaints. Since it has just opened, we also got a discount on the overall bill!
Great place for a hearty lunch or dinner with friends and family.

Ps: There's also an open air seating option on the terrace with a cute set of stairs leading up there.
