Khaiye aur muskuraiye, aap Lucknow mein hai. 😋
If you are a food-lover like me, Lucknow in winter is the place to be.
Galawti Kebab, Burra kebab, and Lucknowi Mutton Biryani,
Melt in the mouth meetha mango paan and heavenly kheer/phirni...
Dohra paratha, roomali roti and ulte tawa ke parathe,
Mutton Nihari, dhaniya paratha and Sharma ji ki chai....
Khaiye aur muskuraiye, aap Lucknow mein hai....
Walking through the gullies and mazes of the old cities, you get a whiff of heavenly aroma. Kebabs are being prepared by wizened cooks on tawas, rotis and sheermal are being rolled out, and are being expertly served with grace by smiling servers.
The people of Lucknow know their food, and know how to host people in style. The khandani tehzeeb and lazeez swaad were on full display in this historical city.
By the way, the best kebabs are to be found, not in the glitzy fine-dine restaurants, but in small, unpretentious eateries in the Chowk and in Aminabad.
Tundey Kebabi (both outlets) didn't disappoint.
Only grouse - I had thought these would be more easily available at nooks and corners throughout the city (Lucknow means kebab, aur kya). So hoped for food stalls peddling hot kebabs on all roads!
But it's okay....kuch paane ke lie mehnat to karni paregi. Sabr ka phal swadisht aur meetha!
