Prawn curry with vegetables (Alu Kopi Chingrir Torkari/kalia)
A Bengali household side dish that's wholesome and tasty.
Recipe
Mix 200gm medium sized tiger prawns with a little turmeric and salt.
Heat some oil and fry. Remove once they change colour and soften.
Fry cubed potatoes and some cauliflower florets. Strain and keep aside.
Add jeera, 2 chopped onions and fry till golden brown. Add 2 tablespoons ginger garlic paste and 1 chopped tomato, and one or two slit green chillis.
Add 1/2 teaspoon each of turmeric, chilli, coriander powder, salt to taste, and 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Keep stirring till it becomes a mushy paste. Moisten with water and slowly add the fried prawns.
Warm half cup water and add coconut powder/coconut milk. Stir and add to the pan. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
Garnish with ghee, garam masala powder and coriander leaves.
Adding coconut milk is my little touch 😋
Tastes good with both rice and rotis.
