Lusscibo - New Cafe in Sector 2, Salt Lake

There's a new kid on the cafe scene in Salt Lake,  Kolkata.

Lusscibo - which the cafe says, means good food in Italian. Spacious and well designed, the cafe has a young and vibrant vibe.

Since they have just opened,  they serve a complimentary drink and starter to guests. There is a bunch of enthusiastic servers who are eager to please, but are unfortunately not trained enough to handle complaints. Service that is otherwise satisfactory,  dips because of this.

Our group of five ordered chicken drumsticks in green sauce and butter garlic prawns as starters.

The prawns were soft juicy and well flavoured. The chicken drumsticks were good too. We ordered mocktails too, like mango chili, tender coconut coolers etc.

For the main course, half of us ordered Italian- pasta in Alfredo sauce, and spaghetti lasagna, while half ordered Thai- chicken in Thai green sauce with Jasmine rice.

The main course was quite tasty and sufficient in quantity.  So far, so good.

The problem came when we decided to overstay for coffee and dessert. The cappuccino came cold,  as was the first and second flush Darjeeling tea.

And the apple pie crumble was one of the worst I have tasted. The base was hard and stale, and the crumble had no traces of apple pulp.

We complained, but they stubbornly  defended this flop show. (The customer is always right, that's the first rule of the hospitality business.)

It was the only bitter spot in an otherwise superb dining experience.

Management, please note and rectify.

The cafe cum diner offers a wide range of dishes, great ambience and passable service.

What they should ensure is top quality in all dishes too. Worth a visit definitely!
