Salt Lake's Cafe Culture - Yay or Nay?

Cafes have started mushrooming across Kolkata, and the posh neighborhood of Salt Lake is no exception.

Calcutta 64, Terminal 11, Green House Cafe, Afraa Deli, Baker's Best, and now Down The Lane, are some cosy cafes in Salt Lake.

Ambiance of all these cafes is superb, and service exemplary. These provide a friendly atmosphere for get-togethers between friends, and have a happy vibe that is a hit with youngsters.

Coming to food and beverages, the menu is oriented towards Continental, Italian, American, and also some Lebanese, Mexican and Chinese.

Though over-priced and small in serving portion, the food "looks" great. But is sadly more ornamental than nourishing or satisfying. (Baker's Nest is an exception, as it provides both good quantities and great taste at fairly affordable prices.)

I think the other cafes need to provide a little more value for money. Some honest-to-goodness food won't hurt their image, will it?
