Balance Your Diet #NutritionFacts #BalancedDiet #GoodFood #HealthyAndTasty #EatInModeration

Who doesn't like fried, tasty, finger-licking food? And gooey sweet chocolatey delights? And rich succulent meat-based dishes? And cheesy pizzas and pastas? And rich velvet pastries? And divine Indian sweets? The list could go on and on.....

We all do. But in food, as in life, the right balance is the key. You must balance the rich, gooey stuff with greens and pulses, grains, and fresh fruits and vegetables.

Think of your body as a car. A car needs fuel and oil, it also needs a battery and air in the tyres. So proteins and carbs are fuel, while grains and veggies are the battery to keep our bodies working well.

So don't deprive yourself of good food. Eat everything in moderation, as top nutritionist #RujutaDiwekar suggests. And don't forget to balance it out with healthy stuff.

So remember to have curd raita with a lot of veggies, and green salads with meat biryanis and kebabs. And unsalted almonds and walnuts, fox nuts or hazel nuts, instead of potato crisps and chips. If you can't survive without chips, have a yoghurt-based dip along with it.

Cut down on consumption of cheese and cream. Have a daily diet of fresh fruits and vegetables, along with cereals, dals, and fish. Fish, with its rich content of Omega 3 oils and clean protein, is a far healthier option to red meats. Have red meats once a fortnight or in ten days. Saute or grill the meat while cooking, instead of frying at high heat or cooking in tandoor with lots of fat. Try to switch to chicken stews and light curries, instead of butter chicken. And butter chicken and chicken biryani can be made healthier too. Check out my recipes. :)

Make small changes in your diet. And remember to exercise and move about. Your body will thank you for it.
